One dead, two seriously injured in Leamington crash

A crash outside of Leamington has claimed the life of a Wheatley man.

The Ontario Provincial Police and Essex-Windsor first responders attended the scene at the intersection of County Road 34 and Mersea Road 21 around 2 p.m. Saturday.

The OPPs Technical Collision Investigation unit closed County Road 34 between County Road 21 and County Road 37 to complete an investigation.  The roadway was closed for over 14 hours while police investigated.

Police say a pick-up truck and a van collided head-on. The lone occupant of the van was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the collision, a 75-year-old male has died and two passengers from the other vehicle were transported to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
