The Windsor Spitfires dropped a 6-4 decision to the Sarnia Sting on Tuesday.
Daniel D'Amico kicked things off for Windsor with a goal 8:41 into the first period, but the Sting promptly responded with a goal of their own to tie the game at the end of the frame.
Sarnia scored another three back-to-back goals in the second to give them a 4-1 lead with just over four minutes left in the period. Egor Afanasyev scored for the Spitfires late in the frame to cut Sarnia's lead in half, but once again the Sting responded by scoring another goal in the final minute to take a 5-2 lead.
The third period remained mostly scoreless until Curtis Douglas scored for Windsor with less than three minutes left in the game. The Sting scored seconds after that to extend their lead but Matthew Maggio added another goal for Windsor with 50 seconds left on the clock. Sarnia held off Windsor until the buzzer to retain their lead and earn the win.
Despite the loss, Windsor outshot Sarnia 37-21.
The Spitfires are on home ice again on Thursday when they face off against the London Knights at 7:05 p.m.
