Spitfires make a 5-4 comeback against the Sting

The Windsor Spitfires edged the Sarnia Sting 5-4 in a close overtime game Friday night.

Tyler Angle scored the first goal for the Spitfires just over nine minutes into the game.

The Sting tied things up with a goal 2:11 into the second period, and were able to take a one goal lead by scoring early in the third period.

The final frame saw close calls between the two teams. Connor Corcoran scored the Spitfires' next two goals but the Sting quickly caught up by scoring two of their own. By the end of the third period, Windsor tied things up with Cole Purboo scoring with just over three minutes left in the game to force overtime.

Curtis Douglas scored the game winner 1:11 into OT.

Windsor will be up against Sarnia again at home Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
