UPDATE: Standoff on Bruce Avenue ends peacefully

Windsor police have made an arrest following a lengthy standoff with a suspect allegedly involved in a stabbing.

At Around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called to University Avenue near Bruce Avenue for a possible stabbing. They found an injured male who was taken to hospital.

Officers learned the assault may have taken place at a multi-unit dwelling on Bruce Avenue. They also had reason to believe there is a firearm at the involved residence.

The building was evacuated of all residents, except for the suspect, and a perimeter was set up around the property. Communication with the suspect via telephone was established, however, he refused to exit the building.

Police said the man exited the home shortly at around 5:30 p.m. and was arrested without incident.

No further details about the suspect, or his involvement in the stabbing incident earlier in the day, have been released.

Bruce Avenue between Park Street West and Vera Place remained closed while officers were at the scene.
