Second presumptive case of coronavirus confirmed in Canada

Provincial officials have now confirmed a second presumptive case of the coronavirus in Ontario.

The first was a man in his 50s who had just returned to Canada from China.

The Toronto Star reported public health officials in that city were tracking down about 30 passengers seated near the man to see if they have the virus.

A statement released by the Ontario government on Monday said the man's wife has tested positive for the virus. Officials said the woman has been in self-isolation.

"We are working alongside Toronto Public Health, who has been in regular contact with the individual during their self-isolation period," said Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Williams. "Given the fact that she has been in self-isolation, the risk to Ontarians remains low."

In China, the number of confirmed cases has risen to more than 2,700. The death toll has climbed to 80.
