Wyandotte Town Centre BIA wants to save parades

The board of the Wyandotte Town Centre BIA hopes they can help to save the Canada Day Parade and the Santa Claus Parade.

The future of the two parades was called into question this week when the Downtown Windsor BIA decided to pull its $40,000 sponsorship of the two events.

The Wyandotte Town Centre BIA has committed $10,000 to each parade hoping others will also come forward to save the parade.

"They are really beneficial to creating a sense of community, bringing people together of all ethnic backgrounds and all types of people and families. So I think it's really important for us as a community," said Vice-Chair Larry Horwitz.

Horwitz said they would like to work with the Windsor Parade Corporation, the City of Windsor, and other groups and individuals interested in saving the parades.

The Windsor Parade Corporation will hold a board meeting on Monday to discuss the future of the parades.
