Windsor receives over $2.3M for Caesars Windsor

Steady business at Caesars Windsor has resulted in another healthy payment to the city of Windsor.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) announced Tuesday that they issued a third-quarter payment of $2,371,679 to the city for hosting Caesars Windsor. This is a non-tax gaming revenue installment covering October 1 to December 31, 2019.

The gaming and entertainment complex, the largest in southwestern Ontario, first opened in May 1994. Since then, OLG has made over $66 million in payments to the city of Windsor.

"Host communities support important community programs and services and strengthen their local infrastructure with these gaming revenues," said Ontario Minister of Finance Rod Phillips in a media release. "OLG’s significant annual proceeds are invested in key government priorities across the province to the benefit of all Ontarians."

The payment is calculated through an equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement, according to OLG. The sum Windsor gets is based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue that is consistent throughout all gaming establishments in the province.
