There are currently three candidates vying for the position of councillor in Ward 7.
The seat was left vacant when Irek Kusmierczyk was elected as the member of parliament for Windsor-Tecumseh in the last federal election.
Candidates who have officially filed their papers include Igor Dzaic, Michael Malott and Greg Lemay.

Father of one, Lemay has been an advocate for the homeless for many years. He ran in for councillor in Ward 8 in the last municipal election but has since moved to Ward 7. He said flooding, infrastructure and parks are the main issues facing the area.
"I do a lot of work with our folks experiencing homelessness, I'm a soccer coach, I'm just a busy guy in the community and I love my community," said Lemay after filing his papers Wednesday.
Dzaic, 30, has been a Windsor resident for 22 years. He said he is an active volunteer in the community and follows Windsor City Council closely. In a media release, he said his priorities include moving forward with the new mega-hospital, supporting the expansion of green spaces and increased funding for flood mitigation.

Father of 3, Malott is an active member of the city's labour community and is an advocate for many social justice issues. He made the decision to run in the by-election because he feels Kusmierczyk left a huge void.
"I'm just looking to extend further in the community what me and my family already do. We're already heavily involved in our community, social justice issues, family issues, women's rights issues. So me running for city councillor is just an extension of what I already do in the community," said Malott.
Nomination papers can be filed until 2 p.m. on March 13, 2020. The by-election is April 27, 2020.
