City offers daycamps Tuesday when Catholic teachers strike

The City of Windsor is already getting ready for an anticipated one-day strike by Catholic teachers next Tuesday.

The strike will close all Catholic high and elementary schools in Windsor-Essex, including EarlyON Child and Family Centres at five schools.

Those schools are Holy Name Catholic Elementary School in Essex, H.J. Lassaline Catholic Elementary School and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windsor, Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in LaSalle, and in Tecumseh, St. Pius Catholic Elementary.

The city's recreation department is taking registrations now for day camp programs at Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex on Pulford Street, and Optimist Community Centre on Ypres Avenue. They will be open to children over the age of four.

Parents can register their child at any community centre.

Those parents who would like information on Child Care and or Child Care Subsidy can call Children's Services Intake at 519-255-5312.

Children can be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and picked up as late as 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the town of Lakeshore will offer a day camp on Tuesday at the Atlas Tube Centre. It's for ages four to 11, with swimming, skating and other activities being planned. The camp in Lakeshore runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the cost is $40 per child. Parents should use code #11194 to register online at the town's official website or call (519) 727-0470.

The Town of LaSalle is holding day camps at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex for children 4 to 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The cost is $35 per child and parents can register online or visit the front desk at the Vollmer Complex.
