Spitfires coach headed to CHL Prospects Game

The Windsor Spitfires will be well-represented at an upcoming junior hockey showcase.

The OHL club announced Thursday afternoon that head coach Trevor Letowski will serve as an assistant coach for the Kubota CHL Top Prospects Game, set for January 16, 2020, in Hamilton. Letowski will help coach the White Team, alongside head coach George Burnett of the Guelph Storm.

The showcase features junior hockey players who are eligible for the NHL Entry Draft and is an excellent opportunity for scouts from all NHL teams to get an up-close-and-personal look at potential prospects.

The 17 OHL players out of 40 invited were chosen by NHL clubs to participate. These 40 players will be divided into Teams White and Red, with the final rosters and coaching staff announced in early January.

Windsor forward Jean-Luc Foudy is the team's only invitee.

Letowski was first hired by the Spits in the summer of 2015 as an assistant coach and was promoted to head coach in 2017, after Rocky Thompson guided Windsor to a Memorial Cup, then moved to a head coaching job in the AHL.

The Spitfires will have additional representation at the prospects game. The team's head equipment manager, J.R. Grant, will join Letowski in Hamilton and serve as equipment manager for Team White.
