FCA Canada pledge over $1M to United Way campaign

This year, workers and retirees at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada are donating $1,167,535 to the United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County 2020 campaign.

The donation is the largest to the campaign so far this year. It is also the 34th consecutive year workers, and retirees at the Windsor Assembly Plant have contributed to the United Way's biggest fundraiser.

The money was pledged at FCA Canada's headquarters on Friday morning.

"FCA Canada employees and retirees have consistently demonstrated their unwavering support and commitment to the United Way of Windsor-Essex," said Reid Bigland, FCA Canada's president and CEO. "Over the past 72 years, our employees have contributed over $67 million towards this annual campaign."

The agency is focused on a cradle-to-career strategy to not only help those who are less fortunate but prevent poverty.

Windsor has the highest childhood poverty rate in Canada, and United Way hopes its new strategy will improve outcomes for youth by targetting priority neighbourhoods where children need the most support.

Residents in Windsor-Essex can also help by pledging online or by calling 519-258-0000 ext. 1145.
