In the last month and a half, Lane has broken four World Down Syndrome International Swimming Organization times. She is now the world record holder in the 50 fly, 100 free, 200 free and 400 free time categories.

"I am proud of my swimming. I love doing it a lot," said Lane. "I am very excited."

At the time of the swim meets Lane and her family were not aware she had broken the records but when they compared her times to the world records they discovered the happy surprise.

"In the summer of 2018 she was close then and we've kind of had an eye that eventually she would get to the point that she was going to make a world record," said Lane's mom Cynthia. 'We're pretty proud of her."

At the Border City International meet this weekend Julia will compete against other para-swimmers. She is going for the world record in the 50 free category.

An award ceremony will take place on Saturday at 5:45 on the pool deck to present Julia with her World Record Certificates for the previous four categories.
