Two charged after a firearm complaint at Windsor high school

Two 18-year-old men face charges after Windsor police investigated a firearms complaint at Vincent Masse Secondary School in Windsor.

Several students told school officials Thursday two people in a white Ford Focus with a gun were on school property looking for a student.

The two had left by the time officers arrived, but after interviewing witnesses, they discovered an address on Helsinki Court where they believed the suspects might be.

They were right.

Only 40 minutes after the complaint, officers arrived at the home, found the car, contained the scene, and arrested two men who fit the description the students had given police.

They seized two firearms and some Xanax during the arrest.

Police said they would like to commend the students for reporting the incident quickly, and school staff who called police immediately.

Dave Patel, 18, of Brampton is charged with 11 firearm-related offences, including possessing a loaded firearm, having a firearm with an altered serial number, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The second man charged, 18-year-old Samranjot Gill of Windsor, faces two counts of occupying a vehicle with a firearm.

Police said they believe it is related to another incident earlier in the week.
