Windsor philanthropist gives for humanitarian work in Israel

Humanitarian work in Israel is getting a funding boost thanks to a generous donation by Windsor Philanthropist Alan Quesnel.

Quesnel presented a cheque for $2,025,000 to the Windsor Jewish Federation Tuesday.

While the Windsor Jewish Community Centre, United Jewish Appeal, and the Jewish National Fund will share $1,000,000, another $1,025,000 will go to Christians United for Israel.

"I would like to try in some small way to begin bridging the gap between these two wonderful religions," said Quesnel.

Windsor Jewish Federation President, Mark Abraham called it a "sea-changing gift."

"We are all lucky to have someone like him supporting multi-faith causes in our community," he said.

Quesnel has donated millions of dollars locally, including to the restoration work at Assumption Church, to House of Sophrosyne for their new facility on Adstoll Avenue, and the Kiwanis Sunshine Point Camp.
