The Greater Essex County District School Board has chosen its leadership group for the next 12 months.
The local English-language public board chose its 2020 officers at its meeting on Tuesday night. The new chairman is Ron LeClair, currently on his second term with the board.
LeClair, the elected trustee for Amherstburg-LaSalle, previously served as the board's vice-chairman for three years. He is an inspector with the Windsor Police Service.
First-term trustee Cathy Cook, elected to represent Windsor Wards 5, 6, 7, and 8, was acclaimed to serve as vice-chair.
In the other leadership posts determined Tuesday, board veteran Alan Halberstadt, trustee for Windsor Wards 3, 4, and 10, will become chairman of the Operations and Finance Committee. Alicia Higgison, first-term trustee for Lakeshore-Tecumseh, will chair the Education Committee.
The next monthly board meeting, featuring the new Board of Trustees, will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at board headquarters on Park Street West.
