Teachers at Ontario's public elementary and secondary schools start a campaign Tuesday to put pressure on the province in contract talks.
The work-to-rule campaign is not expected to impact student learning, it will mean teachers will not attend certain meetings. In jurisdictions where report cards have not yet gone out, they will not be filling out comments, and participation in standardized testing will have to wait.
At high schools, information pickets are anticipated before and after class, and during the lunch hour.
Negotiations between the Ontario government and teachers unions continue, but the unions complain there has not been much progress.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario said earlier this fall 98 per cent of its membership supported strike action, while members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation who are teachers supported it by 95.5 per cent.
