WRH launches online raffle to support new mammography machine

Starting Monday, you can buy a ticket and help Windsor Regional Hospital buy a new digital mammography machine.

The hospital has launched an online raffle with a starting purse of $25,000. The prize will grow over time before the draw on December 20.

The new machine will improve breast screen accuracy, reduce the number of false-positive tests, and help doctors detect breast cancer sooner. However, it will also cost $500,000.

So far, the hospital has been able to raise $200,000 for the machine at the Windsor Regional Hospital Breast Health Centre.

"We are beyond excited to launch this program," said John Comisso, president of the Windsor Regional Health Foundation. "We hope this lottery will bring us closer to our goal."

Any Ontario resident can enter the raffle, and the winning entry will be drawn at 1 p.m. December 20.
