Masse wants to get things moving

Members of the New Democratic Party will hold their first caucus meeting Wednesday.

MP for Windsor-West Brian Masse was officially sworn in Tuesday along with other members of the NDP party.

"We're uniting as a group as New Democrats to show that whether it be the environment or health care, where so many Canadians are being let down right now, that we can actually offer some positive solutions and get some things done and offer that approach to the Prime Minster right away," said Masse.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will announce his cabinet ministers Wednesday. Parliament is set to resume on December 5, 2019.

Masse said the speech of the throne will set some standards moving forward but he's hopeful this minority government can work together to move quickly on the priorities discussed during the election campaign.

"There's nothing stopping us from getting things really quickly done. Whether it be on the pharmacare or whether it be in regards to single-event sports betting or myself is really focused on the automotive investments," said Masse.

The veteran MP said he has met with the newly elected MPs in the region, MP for Essex Chris Lewis and MP for Windsor-Tecumseh Irek Kusmierczyk and they've all agreed to work together to get things accomplished for Windsor-Essex.
