Lakeshore unveils new veterans' parking spaces

The Town of Lakeshore has revealed a new way to show appreciation to those who have served.

The municipality has installed a total of 13 signs denoting special parking spaces for veterans. The signs are easy to spot, with a poppy displayed, outside Lakeshore parks, public buildings and community centres.

The signs are installed outside Lakeshore Town Hall, Atlas Tube Centre, Comber Community Centre and Libro Community Centre. Spaces are also found at parks such as Centennial, Geralyn Tellier Perdu, Ladouceur Lions, Lakeview, Lakeview West Branch, Leffler Peace, Maidstone, Optimist and Shanahan.

The town is asking residents to reserve these spaces for veterans, who can park there whether they have poppy licence plates or not.

Veterans interested in obtaining a poppy licence plate may visit the official Canadian Legion Ontario Command website.
