Spitfires edge Otters 7-6 in OT

The Windsor Spitfires snatched a win out from under the Erie Otters with a 7-6 overtime decision on Friday.

The Otters scored the first goal of the game in just under six minutes, but Jean-Luc Foudy and Will Cuylle both scored to give Windsor a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Daniel D'Amico scored 13:20 into the second to extend the lead for Windsor, but Erie scored another goal late in the frame and then added another 1:59 into the third to tie things up 3-3.

The Spitfires quickly responded with Connor Corcoran scoring 4:26 into the final frame, and Tyler Angle adding another goal just minutes after. The Otters surged ahead to score three back-to-back goals for a 6-5 lead, but Curtis Douglas scored in the final seconds of the period to force overtime.

Corcoran scored his second of the night and the game-winner 46 seconds into the OT period.

Windsor goalie Xavier Medina made 23 saves out of 29 shots on net.

The Spitfires are on the road again on Saturday to take on the Niagara IceDogs at 7 p.m.
