Eastbound Highway 401 reopened after crash

A key Windsor-Essex intersection has reopened after a crash shut it down for several hours on Tuesday.

The Ontario Provincial Police said it happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at the merge lane from Highway 3. According to Constable Jim Root, a total of six vehicles were involved. Four of them were tractor-trailers.

Root said one of the tractor-trailers jackknifed, resulting in a total closure of eastbound 401 which lasted over three hours.

There were no reports of injuries.

The OPP is still investigating how the collision happened. Anyone with information who has not already spoken with police is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
