Spitfires outrun Greyhounds to 6-4 victory

The Windsor Spitfires are riding a four-game winning streak after defeating the Soo Greyhounds 6-4 on Thursday.

The Greyhounds were off to a fast start after scoring twice in the first four minutes of the game. Cole Purboo responded with the first goal for Windsor but the Soo added another late in the first period. Connor Corcoran added a goal with less than three minutes left in the frame, leaving Windsor trailing 3-2 heading into the second.

Luke Boka scored 8:23 into the second to tie the game for Windsor, however, the Greyhounds scored in the last five minutes of the period to retake the lead ahead of the final frame.

Boka scored his second of the night 4:45 into the third to tie the game for the Spitfires once again.  Thomas Stevenson and Kyle McDonald both scored unanswered goals in the last ten minutes of the game to win it for Windsor.

Spitfires goalie Kari Piiroinen made 18 saves out of 22 shots on net.

The Spitfires are back on the ice on Sunday to battle the Sudbury Wolves at the WFCU Centre. The puck drops at 2:05 p.m.
