Windsor police charge two in stolen vehicle investigation

Two people have been charged by Windsor police with vehicle theft and failing to stop for police.

Police said they received a call Tuesday morning about a stolen 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Plainclothes officers spotted the vehicle moments later, being driven in the area of Wyandotte Street East and McDougall Street.

According to Sergeant Steve Betteridge, the plainclothes officers broadcast the particulars about the vehicle. Soon after, a uniformed officer noticed the pickup being driven in the area of Parent Avenue and Erie Street East. The officer activated the lights of the police cruiser but the pickup took off at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, a pursuit did not happen.

Betteridge said the pickup was later found abandoned in the area of Langlois Avenue and Benjamin Avenue. Officers set up a containment of the immediate area and two people were soon seen walking in an alley. When they saw police, the pair tried to run but officers caught up with them and took them into custody. The two were eventually linked with the pickup truck and one of the suspects was found with items taken from it.

Both Bradley Dumont, 34, and Jordan Irwin, 29, have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. In addition, Dumont is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and failure to stop for police.

These charges have not been proven in court.
