Children abducted and taken to Lebanon

Police in Windsor have issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of a 34-year-old man who is accused of abducting his two children and fleeing to Lebanon.

The Windsor Police Service said the Major Crimes Branch began an investigation into the abduction of the two children back in April of 2019 and have been in contact with the father, who remains in Lebanon with the five-year-old and nine-year-old.

As a result of the investigation, a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for Achraf Zeidan for two counts of parental abduction and disobeying a court order.

"Investigators have been in regular contact with the complainant in this matter, keeping her apprised on the progress of the case," police said in a news release. "The Windsor Police Service is making continued efforts to have the children returned to Canada and to have the accused appear in our court system to answer to the charges."
