Scheer to make campaign stop in Essex

The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada is making his first Windsor-Essex region campaign stop, five days before the federal election.

Andrew Scheer will be in the town of Essex on Wednesday for a meet and greet event at the Essex Centre Sports Complex. He is also scheduled to make an undisclosed announcement during the stop.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and attendees are encouraged to "please bring your skates." Tickets are free but those attending are encouraged to register online. The event runs until 1 p.m.

Scheer is the fourth party leader to make an appearance in the region ahead of the federal election on Monday.  NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh stopped in Windsor last month and Prime Minister and Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau visited the area over the Thanksgiving weekend. As well,  PPC Leader Maxime Bernier was in Windsor on October 4.
