Some local families who are struggling financially will have a little more to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
Members of CUPE Local 543 handed out food baskets to 600 families and individuals at food banks across the city on Friday.
“This is truly about giving back to our community and it is wonderful that the CUPE 543 family can do this for those who are in the greatest need at this time of the year,” said Jason Parent, president of CUPE Local 543.
The baskets included turkeys or chickens along with potatoes, stuffing, carrots, fruit, and dessert.
This is a yearly tradition for members of the union.
