UPDATE: Second arrest made after collision with police vehicles

Windsor police have now arrested two people after a stolen vehicle crashed into two police cruisers.

After issuing an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Ashley Gelinas, officers arrested the Tecumseh woman Wednesday at a home on Inglewood Avenue.

Gelinas faces two counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, one count of possession of a stolen vehicle, and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

She was the second arrest after police arrested 33-year-old Mark Lawrence of Windsor on Monday. Investigators believe he was the passenger in the vehicle that rammed two police cruisers on Sunday afternoon.

Officers responded to a complaint of a car was driving on a Lauzon Road property without permission.

When police arrived, the stolen vehicle emerged from the tall grass on the property and drove toward the cruisers. The officers tried to block the car, but the driver collided with both police cruisers before fleeing the scene.

Both cruisers were damaged, but the officers did not require immediate medical treatment.

On Monday, the stolen vehicle was spotted on Heatherglen Drive off Lanoue Street in Tecumseh.
