Damage to Lakeshore restaurant estimated at $500,000

Fire officials have been unable to pinpoint the cause of a restaurant fire in Lakeshore.

The cause of the blaze at Twigg's Bar and Grill on County Road 22 in Emeryville has been listed as undetermined, according to Lakeshore Fire Chief Don Williamson. The chief has based that conclusion on what he called "structural safety concerns and the heavy damage in the investigation area."

Williamson said the damage estimate has been set at $500,000.

The Lakeshore Fire Department and Ontario Provincial Police first responded to the blaze around 4:15 p.m. Monday. Crews from Tecumseh Fire and Rescue were on hand to assist through the mutual aid program. There were no injuries reported.

County Road 22 between Renaud Line and  I.C. Roy Drive was closed to traffic for almost 14 hours Monday night, reopening just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.
