Man charged after breaking in, touching child

A Windsor man faces multiple charges following an early-morning break-and-enter.

Windsor police said officers were called to a home on Lauzon Road off Yolanda Street at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators were then told that a man had somehow entered the house and made his way to the bedroom of a sleeping child. The child was then touched inappropriately.

The child awoke and was able to call for help. Hearing the commotion, an adult entered the bedroom and got into a brief scuffle with the man. The man then ran from the home.

The crime scene was soon contained, and the Major Crimes Division was brought in along with the Forensic Identification Unit, said Sergeant Steve Betteridge, public information officer.

The suspect was soon identified and arrested at around 8 a.m. Tuesday. Jamie Tessier, 42, is charged with break-and-enter, sexual assault, sexual interference and two counts of assault. These charges have not been proven in court.

Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
