Motorcycle rider killed in Amherstburg

A motorcycle rider is dead after a collision Thursday afternoon in Amherstburg.

Windsor police's Amherstburg detachment said it happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Middle Side Road near Concession Road 3 North. A black Yamaha motorcycle had collided with a green Ford Escape.

The female motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge. Her identity has not been disclosed pending notification of loved ones.

The area was closed to vehicle traffic for much of Thursday night while the WPS Forensic Identification Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. A coroner was also on hand.
