Lots of rain on the way for Southwestern Ontario

It's going to be a wet evening for most of Southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent Monday afternoon, before extending it to London-Middlesex and Sarnia-Lambton.

The weather agency said significant rainfall is possible Monday night and this special weather statement may be upgraded to a rainfall warning Monday afternoon.

Forecasters said a low-pressure system tracking towards the Great Lakes may bring significant rainfall late Monday evening into Tuesday morning.

"At this time there is model uncertainty as to the exact track of the low-pressure system and therefore the axis of heaviest precipitation," said Environment Canada.

The agency added rainfall amounts are expected to be in the 20-50 mm range. Forecasters said some communities could see the rain accompanied by thunderstorms and may see more than 50 mm of rain.
