A week-long celebration of LGBTQ+ pride kicks off Tuesday in Windsor with the Windsor-Essex Pride Fest.

Tuesday's schedule includes workshops including one at the University of Windsor. "How Society Affects the Development of a Healthy Body Image Within the LGBTQ+ Community" is hosted by the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association. It gets underway at 6 p.m. at the university's School of Social Work on Ferry Street.

The party officially starts Wednesday morning with the raising of the pride flag at Windsor City Hall at 1 p.m.

Lanspeary Park will be the venue for live music, food, drink, and art displays Friday.

Saturday's events include entertainment at Lanspeary Park by Morgan Michaels from season two of Ru Paul's Drag Race and Darienne Lake of season six. DJ Kevin Bailey will provide the music.

The Glitter Ball at the Rockstar Music Hall on Central Avenue near Ypres Avenue is also scheduled for Saturday.

The Windsor-Essex Pride Parade is Sunday morning. The public is invited to come out and support the local LGBTQ+ community. The parade gets underway at 11 a.m. at the corner of Ottawa Street and Argyle Road where it will continue west along Ottawa Street to Lanspeary Park for the Pride Day and Marketplace event.

Windsor-Essex Pride Fest celebrates its 27th anniversary this year. It started with a march involving 100 people in 1992. Since then, the event has attracted thousands of people.
