Essex Windsor EMS has deal with the county

Paramedics in Windsor-Essex have a tentative deal with the County of Essex.

County Warden Gary McNamara said county council ratified the agreement during Wednesday night's council meeting, but the members of CUPE Local 2974.2 still have to vote on it.

As a result, details of the proposed contract have not been made public.

The deal will cover 280 workers at Essex Windsor EMS.

"I anticipate everyone will be happy -- I hope," said McNamara. "It is a deal that reflects the times."

It is the first time since 2006 that talks between the county and the bargaining group have not gone to arbitration.
