City opens public pools for extended hours

Just as a hot, humid mass of air is settling over the region, the City of Windsor announced it is extending hours at public pools so residents can cool off.

The six public pools, Atkinson, Central, Lanspeary, Mic Mac, Remington, and Riverside Centennial, are already open between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily.

Riverside Centennial will be closed Thursday evening for evening swim classes, but the other five will be open 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Riverside Centennial will offer public swimming Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening.

The city also has indoor pools at Adventure Bay, Adie Knox, and the WFCU Centre.

Spray pads across the city are also open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Windsor has been under an extended heat warning, and Environment Canada predicts the region could see the hottest temperatures so far this year over the next few days.
