Huron Church Road reopens this weekend

There is some good news for Windsor commuters who use Huron Church Road.

The busy stretch between Malden Road and Dorchester will fully reopen this weekend, more than three months after a significant reconstruction project restricted traffic.

Since April 1, both north and southbound traffic has been down to one lane.

On Saturday, traffic will finally flow in two lanes in both directions. Side street access on the west side of Huron Church will remain closed until July 12 for work on traffic signals. The interim pedestrian crossings will also stay in place until those lanes open.

Road and commercial access on the east side of Huron Church will reopen.

The City of Windsor installed new concrete pavement on the road, installed a new water main, new sidewalks and curbs, and new traffic signals at the intersections of Malden Road, Prince/Totten Road, and Dorchester Road.

The $5.5 million project was made possible because of a $3 million grant from the province's Connecting Links Fund.
