Enwin reaches deal with hydro workers

Workers employed in Enwin's hydro division have a new five-year collective agreement.

Enwin Utilities announced the agreement Tuesday and said it is pleased with the new contract.

The agreement, reached after eight rounds of bargaining, is retroactive to April 1, and it will not expire until March 31, 2024. It includes a two per cent increase each year of the contract, increases in clothing and boot allowance, improved vision benefits, and more shift work for the workers.

The approximately 60 workers, represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers or IBEW Local 636, have been without a collective agreement since March 31, according to Christine Armstrong with the union.

Earlier this year, workers in the water division ratified a four-year contract.
