Investigators say a man critically hurt in a Windsor house fire has died of his injuries.
Windsor Fire and Rescue confirmed via Twitter Thursday afternoon that one of the men injured in the fire died in a Hamilton hospital late Wednesday night.
Crews were called shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday to the home on Moy Avenue between Niagara and Erie streets. A second man was treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and was released.
The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office spent much of Wednesday investigating to determine the cause, which according to fire officials turned out to be careless smoking. The fire began in the living room of the house with a damage estimate totalling $150,000, with $125,000 for the structure and the remainder for the contents.
