UPDATE: Moy house fire damage estimated at $150K

Fire officials are blaming careless smoking for causing a house fire in Windsor early Wednesday morning.

Crews from Windsor Fire and Rescue were called shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday to a home on Moy Avenue between Niagara and Erie streets.

Two people were taken to the hospital. One was released around noon Wednesday after being treated for smoke inhalation. The other is in critical condition and was transferred to a hospital in Hamilton, where their condition was unchanged as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall was called to help investigate the fire. It was determined to be accidental, starting in the living room of the home.

The damage estimate is a total of $150,000, with $125,000 for the structure and the remainder for the contents.
