Couple facing numerous charges in Windsor break-and-enter

Some quick action by Windsor police led to a man and a woman being charged in a house invasion.

Police say the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. Friday at a house on Azalia Crescent near Conservation Drive in south Windsor. Officers took a report of a break-and-enter at the residence, indicating that some credit cards were stolen. A witness was able to describe two suspects leaving the scene.

Around 2 p.m. Friday, police were told that one of the stolen credit cards was used at a business at Devonshire Mall. Officers spotted two people walking in the area of Howard Avenue and the E.C. Row Expressway. When the man and woman realized they were being tailed, they tried to run, only to be arrested a short time later on North Service Road.

The man was found with property reported stolen from the home that morning, along with break-and-enter tools and small quantities of suspected oxycodone and cocaine. Police eventually determined that the man was connected to previous break-and-enters.

Jonathan Poitras, 29, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of break-and-enter, nine counts apiece of fraud under $5,000, unauthorized use of a credit card and use of a credit card obtained through crime; five counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and one count each of possession of oxycodone, possession of cocaine, and possession of break-and-enter tools.

Chelsea Clark, 28, of Windsor, is charged with one count each of break-and-enter and fraud under $5,000.

These charges have not been proven in court.
