Night Market season begins in Windsor-Essex

If you are looking for a way to support local vendors and artists during this year's spring and summer evenings, many night markets are coming up.

LaSalle is hosting its first night market of the year at the LaSalle Civic Centre at 5950 Malden Rd. Sunday, May 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Enjoy local music and art while eating delicious foods from across the region on the evening of the last Sunday of each month. About 20 vendors will exhibit their handmade products. Patrons can take part in a drum circle, putt-putt golf, yoga, and yard games.

For a different take on the night market, the first Walkerville Distillery District Night Market of the year is on May 31.

Located on Argyle Road outside the Walkerville Brewery, sip local beers, wines, and spirits while sampling the menu from food trucks. Brendan Scott Freil and Datsunn are booked to perform. The gates open at 5 p.m. and close at 11 p.m.

If you miss it then, check it out on June 28, July 26, or August 30.

The Tecumseh BIA Night Market is on June 21, summer solstice, at Green Valley Plaza from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Check out sidewalk sales from local businesses like Antoyan Jewellers, Jacobs Gowns & Footwear, Merle Norman Cosmetics, and Perla's Fashions. More than 20 vendors will be selling spices, sauces and jams, jewellery -- even speciality dog food.

Afterwards, stop in for a drink or a bite at Wineology, Kabobgy & Simply Thai.

In July, the event is on July 19.

On June 7, the night market season opens in Leamington with the Mill Street Night Market.

Lining the newly rehabilitated Mill Street West, come for vintage clothing and handmade wares. This year, 25 local businesses including The Grove House, Bradt's Butcher Block, and the Junk Whisperers of Essex County are taking part.

The Mill Street Night Market runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 5, August 9, and September 6 before closing for the season on October 4.
