Heart Breaker Challenge hits Malden Park Saturday

People will once again have a chance to get dirty in the name of a good cause.

Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare will welcome runners to Malden Park on Saturday afternoon for the seventh annual Heart Breaker Challenge, an unconventional running event that raises money for HDGH's Cardiac Wellness Centre, as well as its stroke and pulmonary rehab programs. Over the course of its history, the challenge has raised over half-a-million dollars.

About 1,500 runners are expected to tackle a dirty and difficult obstacle course, complete with hills, mud crawls, tire climbs and other bumps designed to test the fitness of participants. The course is roughly five to seven kilometres in length, according to the event's official website.

Registration is closed for the event, but for those who still want to donate, there is a link on the website.

If you've registered and have been confirmed, but you still have not collected your event packet, you can do so from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Since alcohol is being served following the event, you must pick up your own packet with a government-issued photo ID.
