A Windsor man has now been formally charged after a stabbing in Windsor Thursday night.
A loss prevention officer was stabbed while trying to stop a shoplifter at the Real Canadian Superstore at 2430 Dougall Avenue on Thursday shortly after 8 p.m. Investigators said a man left with several items without paying for them.
The suspect was arrested quickly a short distance away but charges were not immediately laid. Several stolen items were recovered and two knives were also seized.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Stefan Smith, 36, of Windsor, is now officially charged with assault causing bodily harm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and theft under $5,000.
