Season over at Lakeview Park Marina docks

Just as the boating season officially gets underway, the City of Windsor has closed the docks at Lakeview Park Marina because of high water levels.

"After much consideration on the fluctuating water levels, as well as an assessment of the current safety conditions of the docks and hydro to the docks, city officials have decided that closure is the right course of action," read a release from the city Friday.

Water levels are higher than normal on Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River, and Lake Erie.

Earlier this month, the city made sandbags and sand available to residents living along Riverside Drive East from George Avenue to the Tecumseh Town Limits.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the extremely high water levels, but our number one priority is the safety of everyone at the marina," the city said.

The fuel docks, launch ramps, sanitation pump, and tours to Peche Island will remain open as long as water levels and safety allow.

Lakeview Park Marina will reopen in April 2020.
