Rent rising in Windsor

Rent in Windsor is on the rise.

According to a report released by PadMapper on Wednesday, April rent across Windsor took the biggest jump among the 24 major cities in Canada. PadMapper said Windsor had the fastest rising average rent in the nation last month, up 5.3 per cent from March to $800 a month for a one bedroom apartment.

The good news is that Windsor is still ranked as the most affordable rent in Canada.

The report also showed that the average rent for a one bedroom apartment in Windsor has jumped 15.9 per cent over the past year.

St. Catharines had the second highest monthly jump with average rent increasing by 5.2 per cent from March to April.

Toronto still has the most expensive average rent in the country. A one bedroom apartment in Toronto cost $2,250 a month last month, which surprisingly is 0.4 per cent lower than what it was in March.

Rounding out the top five most expensive cities for rent are Vancouver, Burnaby, Montreal, and Barrie.
