Learn about your neighbourhood through Data Walks

A local group looking to ensure children from walks of life in the city and county are given equal opportunity is looking for your help.

ProsperUS and the United Way are holding what it calls three-hour guided tours, called Data Walks where participants can share their thoughts in an interactive setting about their neighbourhood, and learn more about issues related to child poverty, the cost of living, math and literacy success in school, and income by education level.

The group is holding a series of sessions in Windsor and in Essex County starting Monday, May 13 to Thursday, May 23.

There will be four sessions in Windsor. On Thursday, May 16 it will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the WFCU Centre. The Gino and Liz Marcus Complex on Drouillard Road will host the second session from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Two sessions will be held at the Sandwich Teen Action Group on King Street from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and in the evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The first session in the county is in Leamington on  Tuesday, May 21 at the Leamington Roma Club from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A second session in the evening will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 29 it will move to the St. Jude Parish Hall on Meunier Street in Belle River for a session from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The final session is at the Essex Legion Branch on Talbot Street North in Essex on Thursday, May 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The United Way/Centraide of Windsor-Essex County will provide a complimentary meal. Childcare, transportation and translation services will also be available if requested.
