Flood warning issued for parts of Essex County

The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) has issued a flood warning for Leamington and Kingsville.

The area between Wheatley Harbour and the tip of Point Pelee in Leamington and Heritage Road in Kingsville between Arner Townline and the Linden Beach area are the most at risk for flooding. According to ERCA, Cotterie Park Road in Leamington is completely submerged and undrivable while water has also overtopped parts of Heritage Road.  They say high northeast winds are to blame for the flooding and may also cause shoreline erosion and damaging waves.

The Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and Detroit River shorelines all remain under a flood watch.

ERCA said winds are expected to calm by Monday morning and advise residents to avoid any areas currently under a flood warning. They also remind people to use caution around shorelines or areas where any flooding has occurred.
