UPDATE: Gas line strike in east Windsor resolved

Windsor Fire and Rescue has said residents are returning home after a gas line was struck.

The fire service said the strike took place before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Riverside Drive East between Dieppe Street and Watson Avenue. A crew working on the Riverside Vista project accidentally struck the main belonging to Union Gas.

As a precaution, homes in the immediate area were evacuated, and people were asked to stay away from the area.

Windsor Fire and Rescue tweeted around 2 p.m. that the problem had been corrected and the area was safe once more.

No injuries were reported.
