City shuts down two pedestrian overpasses over E.C. Row

Starting May 21, some pedestrians and cyclists in Southwest Windsor will have to change their routine.

The City of Windsor will close the pedestrian bridges over the E.C. Row Expressway on Mark Avenue and Academy Drive for rehabilitation work.

"There's a lot of concrete repairs to do," said Contracts Manager Wade Bondy. "There's some repairs to the fencing, repairs to the handrails. That sort of thing. It's basically a complete maintenance rehab of the bridges."

Those residents will have to ride or walk a few extra blocks to the Dominion Boulevard bridge for six to eight weeks. The project is scheduled to wrap up August 16.

Bondy said the project will be extensive because there are so many separate repairs that are needed.

"They've been there for quite a while, but they're still in decent shape, so we're hoping to extend their life by quite a bit by doing this work," said Bondy.
