What's open and closed Easter Weekend in Windsor-Essex?

For many in Windsor-Essex, a four-day weekend is upon us. This means many local businesses and services will be closed or on shortened hours.

Good Friday is a statutory holiday, while Easter Monday is a holiday for many as well.

All federal, provincial, and municipal government offices, including city and town halls and ServiceOntario, will be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday. Residents can still renew their licence plates and perform selected transactions with ServiceOntario on their official website. There will be no Canada Post delivery either day as well.

Many banks, credit unions and financial institutions will be closed at some point over the weekend. Check with your local branch first to avoid a wasted trip.

All Beer Store and LCBO locations are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The Beer Store will operate regular hours Easter Monday, as will selected LCBO outlets.

All four public school boards in Windsor-Essex will not hold classes Friday or Monday. At both the University of Windsor and St. Clair College, there will be no classes Friday but there will be on Monday as usual.

All Windsor Public Library branches will be closed Friday through Monday with the exception of the Central, Riverside and Budimir branches, which will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All Essex County Library branches will be closed Friday through Monday, reopening Tuesday.

Devonshire Mall and Tecumseh Mall will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Both will be open normal hours on Saturday and Monday. Windsor Crossing outlet mall will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Good Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Easter Sunday, and normal hours Saturday and Monday.

The 311 call centre will be closed on Friday and Monday with regular hours resuming Tuesday. The 211 service line will be operating 24 hours as usual.

In Windsor, residential garbage and recyclable collections will not take place on Friday or Monday and be delayed a day. The public drop-off depot on Central Ave and E.C. Row is closed both Good Friday and Easter Monday but will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no parking enforcement in Windsor on Friday or Monday, and all metered street spaces will be free. Metered parking is free already on Sunday. The city’s parking payment offices will also be closed, but payments will still be taken online.

All Windsor community centres and customer care centres will be closed on Good Friday and Easter with the exception of previously-scheduled rentals. Regular programs and services will take place as normal on Saturday and Monday.

The WFCU Centre and all arenas in the city of Windsor will be closed completely on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and closed on Monday expect for previously-scheduled rentals.

At the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, there will be no programming at all on Easter Sunday. On Friday, Saturday and Monday, adult swim programs and the fitness centre will have specific hours. Please call (519) 974-AQUA (2782) for information.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday, and open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

The Chimczuk Museum will be closed Friday and Monday but will be open normal hours on Saturday and Sunday. The Francois Baby House will be closed all weekend and reopen on Tuesday.

Transit Windsor buses will run Sunday and holiday schedules on Friday and Sunday, and operate normal schedules on Saturday and Monday. The tunnel bus to Detroit will operate on a regular schedule all weekend.
