Strike over in Lakeshore

An agreement has been reached between the Town of Lakeshore and its 21 part-time facility attendants at Atlas Tube Centre.

Members of IBEW Local 636 have been on strike since March 5 when they walked off the job in a dispute over wages.

A ratification vote was held on Friday night.

The Town and Union reached a three-year deal with a 2.2 per cent wage increase in the first year and 1.7 per cent increases in the following years. They also agreed on a commitment to maintaining scheduling flexibility to meet the town’s operational needs at the Atlas Tube Centre.

In a release on Facebook, Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain said he was very happy to welcome the workers back to the job.
